Legal Clinic on Back-to-Work: What Employers Need to Know as California Emerges from the COVID-19 Shutdown

This event has passed.

It’s back to business for most states, and as stay-at-home orders start lifting in California, businesses are preparing to get back to work.  Fisher Phillips San Francisco Regional Managing Partner, Jason Geller will address some of the key legal issues facing employers as businesses start re-opening. It is important to understand what your legal rights and obligations are as you develop your plans for resuming business post-COVID-19. Jason will discuss the legal perspective specific to employers in California, including:

  • Can I tell someone who’s been in contact to stay home?

  • Can I temperature test my people as they come back to work?

  • What policies are recommended?

  • What’s a reasonable reimbursement request?

  • Did my company violate the WARN Act when we laid people off?

  • What if my employee says they don’t feel comfortable coming back yet?

Learning Objectives:

  1. Best practices, policies, and procedures for bringing employees back-to-work

  2. Learn your legal rights and obligations

  3. Pitfalls to avoid
