How does your organization support and engage the small business community?
Comcast NBC Universal started as a small business 50 years ago and we honor those roots by bringing together entrepreneurship, technology and innovation. In 2016, Comcast Business provided programs like Innovations 4 Entrepreneurs, the Tomorrow Tour, the Comcast Business Community and many local events and activities to help small businesses be more productive.
What tools and resources has your organization created to help small businesses tap into new opportunities to reach new customers, increase their revenue, and grow their business?
The Comcast Business Community provides over 400 articles with tips, best practices and industry insights for small businesses. We are partnering with Entrepreneur Magazine on educational webinars for small businesses with topics like “Making Money with Social Media” and “How to Master SEO & Grow Your Business”. In addition, there are 4 leadership webinars to help founders take their business to the next level. Partnering with Inc. Magazine we provide small businesses with the Productivity @ Work e-newsletter with articles to help them grow.
What are the trends you see when you think about the small business marketplace, and how will these trends shape the future of small business?
Small businesses have a wealth of information, technology and tools available to help them compete with larger businesses. Smart businesses are researching their options to determine when and how to adopt new technology and ensuring that they are investing in solutions that will result in higher productivity and return on investment.
Can you share one brief story about how your company is helping San Francisco businesses thrive?
Comcast Business provides advanced communication solutions to help companies of all sizes be more productive. In 2006, Comcast invested in the people, systems and processes to bring small and medium-sized businesses Internet, voice and TV services. We proved that we were committed to bringing services at a good value that help them grow their business. After our success in the SMB segment, we applied that same commitment to the mid-market, bringing customers advanced services like Ethernet, PRI and our award-winning hosted PBX service Business VoiceEdge. After becoming one of the fastest growing providers in the mid-market we set our sights on large enterprises in 2015, announcing a new team and a new managed services portfolio designed to serve national companies with locations both in and out of our traditional cable footprint.
Throughout this evolution, our success has been made possible by leveraging Comcast’s powerful, next generation network, our technical and operational expertise, and especially our local resources dedicated to servicing business customers. We are built for scale and speed, and continue to grow and move up-market to new customer markets like hospitality, education, healthcare and government.
What words of advice or wisdom would you like to share with small business owners?
Technology can have a big impact on both your customers’ and your employees’ experience. Take the time to build a solid technology plan that can help you grow and become a company where customers want to do business with you and employees love to come to work.
